[Appeared on RGJ page 14 with caption:] IT'S A CATS LIFE --- Even a striped alley cat like Shanty, above, loses his dignity when he tangles with a baby. Why, a cat can't even primp for his picture and show off his legendary pedigree these days, what with all the upstaging infants in the world. But on Shanty's forehead there's the outline of the letter 'M' which all thoroughbred striped alley cats wear. That little girl holding the scruff of Shanty's neck so firmly is often called Sweetie. She's his favorite playmate when he tires of his catnip mouse or decides chasing autumn leaves isn't very much fun. Shanty and Sweetie reside on Locust street.
