[Appeared on RGJ page 9 with caption:] CHARIMAN of this year's Doctor's Wives Rummage Sale which provided funds for nursing scholarships, Mrs. L. J. Sandars, left, welcome the winners to the scholarship luncheon in the Garden Room of the Riverside Hotel. Mrs. Sandars is the incoming president of the Women's Auxiliary to the Washoe County Medical Society. The girls, seated, left to right, are Mary Jane O'Carroll of Winnemucca; Jo Anne Elkin of Virginia City, Patricia Ellen Burkholder of Silver Springs and Pamela Gustavson of Sparks, with Mrs. Noah Smernoff, retiring president of the auxiliary. The Nevada State Journal (founded on November 23, 1870) and the Reno Evening Gazette (founded on March 28, 1876) were combined on October 7, 1983 to create the Reno-Gazette Journal (RGJ). The collection contains negatives of photographs taken by Reno Gazette-Journal reporters from 1959-2003 for use in news stories.
