[Appeared on RGJ page 3 with caption:] BIG GAS TANK shown here is one of four being installed this month at the Sierra Pacific Power Co. gas plant north of Reno. Here, a Wells Cargo crane is lifting the 37 1/2 ton steel tank from a Western Pacific flat car onto a truck for the final delivery. Fifty-eight feet long and nine feet in diameter, the tank was built in South San Francisco. Power company officials said today that only two tanks like this were needed to serve customers in 1947. The Four new ones will bring the present total to 25.

The Nevada State Journal (founded on November 23, 1870) and the Reno Evening Gazette (founded on March 28, 1876) were combined on October 7, 1983 to create the Reno-Gazette Journal (RGJ). The collection contains negatives of photographs taken by Reno Gazette-Journal reporters from 1959-2003 for use in news stories.
