T.H.P.O. fraternity group photo, 1899

T.H.P.O. (The Hall Protective Organization) is known as the earliest fraternity at the university. They began sometime in the early 1890's as a group of Lincoln Hall residents. After moving off-campus, the group officially changed its name in 1917 to the Nevada Alpha Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. During the mid 1890's, other fraternities and sororities began to appear on campus.
