[Appeared on RGJ page 30 with caption:] FAMILY LIFE CONFERENCE held this week at the University of Nevada had as conference consultant and keynote speaker Dr. Rex A. Skidmore (right), dean of the graduate school of social work, University of Utah, pictured with Mrs. Eugene Pieretti, state supervisor of home economics education for the state department of vocational education, and (left) Dr. Calvin H. Reed, associate professor of education at the University of Nevada. Theme of the two-day meet was 'Strengthening at Home, Source of the Nation's Greatness,' and in addition to the University of Nevada and the state department of education, the Nevada Congress of Parents and Teachers shared in the sponsorship. Besides the two addresses by Dr. Skidmore, there were panel discussions on 'Ways to Strengthen Family Living,' and Action Programs for Successful Family, Living.'

The Nevada State Journal (founded on November 23, 1870) and the Reno Evening Gazette (founded on March 28, 1876) were combined on October 7, 1983 to create the Reno-Gazette Journal (RGJ). The collection contains negatives of photographs taken by Reno Gazette-Journal reporters from 1959-2003 for use in news stories.
