[Appeared on RGJ page 8 with caption:] FAMILY OF WINNERS, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Elder with their daughters, Alison, 4, Hollis, 6, and Candace, 7, all won ribbons in the 1959 Reno Flower show at the California building. They are pictured above admiring the blue-ribbon in the 'Yucca Flat' classification for juniors, entered by Brownie Troop 10 of which Candace is a member. Allison, left, won a third prize for 'Papoose,' a junior class; Hollis won the first on 'Papoose' and 'Silver Lode.' Mr. and Mrs. Elder won three blue-ribbons for first awards and two red ribbons for second in specimen horticultural classes in which they entered lupin, tulips, and camas lilies.

The Nevada State Journal (founded on November 23, 1870) and the Reno Evening Gazette (founded on March 28, 1876) were combined on October 7, 1983 to create the Reno-Gazette Journal (RGJ). The collection contains negatives of photographs taken by Reno Gazette-Journal reporters from 1959-2003 for use in news stories.
