[Appeared on RGJ page 9 with caption:] ALL ROADS will lead to Virginia City for the Nevada Silver Centennial next month, and members of the centennial's transportation committee met in Reno Friday to map plans to handle the crowds during the June 12, 13 and 14 celebration. Perusing road maps are, left to right, standing--Emil Engelhard, Virginia City Chief of police; Sheriff Cecil Morrison of Storey County; Selby Calkins, chairman of the centennial; Bob Humphrey, Carson City Police chief; John Duarte, inspector for the state highway patrol; Richard Hatfield, Washoe county deputy sheriff; T. R. Berrum, Reno Police chief; Lt. James Sale, Reno police department; seated--Louis Spitz, Nevada director of motor vehicles; Robert Stenovich, superintendent of the Nevada highway patrol and C. W. Y. Young, sheriff of Washoe County.

The Nevada State Journal (founded on November 23, 1870) and the Reno Evening Gazette (founded on March 28, 1876) were combined on October 7, 1983 to create the Reno-Gazette Journal (RGJ). The collection contains negatives of photographs taken by Reno Gazette-Journal reporters from 1959-2003 for use in news stories.
