[Appeared on RGJ page 8 with caption:] STAMP FOR SILVER CENTENNIAL = Edward (Tex) Gladding, Virginia City Postmaster, left above, was busiest man on the Comstock Monday as hundreds of requests were handled for cancellation of special four cent postage stamp commemorating discovery of silver on the lode. Gladding is shown during singing of National Anthem launching special ceremony. Gladding sprouted whiskers for role he will play in Nevada Silver Centennial Pageant next week.

The Nevada State Journal (founded on November 23, 1870) and the Reno Evening Gazette (founded on March 28, 1876) were combined on October 7, 1983 to create the Reno-Gazette Journal (RGJ). The collection contains negatives of photographs taken by Reno Gazette-Journal reporters from 1959-2003 for use in news stories.
