Collection Description
Recreation of arborglyphs in aspen trees at The Outlets at Legends shopping center in Sparks, Nevada. Arborglyphs, also known as tree carvings, are intricate etchings made on the bark of trees. Aspen trees are abundant in the Lake Tahoe region and the Basque sheepherders, who resided in the area during the early 1900s, found their preferred canvas in those trees. These unique forms of expression often contain names, dates, pictures, stories, and even poetry, transforming trees into canvases of history and creativity.
