An interview with Maya Miller conducted by her daughter, Kit Miller regarding involvement in the Civil Rights Movement of the late 1960s and early 1970s and her subsequent arrest following protests at the Census Bureau office in Reno. A group of black students and other community leaders were protesting the discriminatory hiring practices of the Census Bureau in Reno when the police arrived to break up the demonstration. Maya Miller was arrested for obstructing justice and resisting arrest. She went on to appeal her case and file a counter suit against the city of Reno.
