Unknown [Blue Jay, Canadian Geese, U.S. Native]; Fruit of Labor

Artists Troy Lovegates, Collin van der Sluijis and Joe C. Rock painted adjacent walls at the top of this building during the Inaugural Reno Mural Expo in October of 2017. The collaborative mural painted by Troy Lovegates and Collin van der Sluijis on the left portrays several symbols of Nevada's history, landscape, wildlife and fauna. A mountain bluebird is flanked on the left by the upper body of a monochromatic Native American man and on the right by Canadian Geese flying in front of the lower body of a cowboy-boot-wearing individual. The mural is further embellished with feathers, various flowers, pyramids, and red and yellow polka dots. As artist Joe C. Rock explains, his mural on the right "featur[es] the arm of my mother stretched across 2nd St... representing her strength and commitment to diversity with her 65 year old freshly tattooed arm piece...I was raised by my mother my entire childhood in a single parent home, she did everything she could do to get me to make the right choices in life and did whatever she needed to do to provide the best life for my cousins, sister and myself, sacrificing her own needs for ours" (https://www.instagram.com/p/Bb-uzY6Dwyr/?hl=en&taken-by=joecrock13) & (<https://www.instagram.com/p/BeL5LzdDuCN/?hl=en&taken-by=joecrock13>).
