[Appeared on RGJ page 13 with caption:] FINANCIAL DETAILS remain unsolved, but construction of this Olympic Center chalet at Reno Ski Bowl will commerce in a few days, E. J. Questa, chairman of the Nevada Olympic Commission announced this morning. Questa was present when the bids of four Reno contractors were opened at the office of John F. Crider A.I.A. Architect and Associates at 10 a.m. Allen Gallaway was low bidder at $33,194 using all economy alternates. All concerned were busy the remainder of the day trying to squeeze the price of the structure itself down to about $30,000. Other bidders Robert Fry, Harrington Construction Co., and A.S. Johnson. The permanent chalet will serve as an Olympic headquarters if the men's alternate downhill course on Slide Mountain is used. (Sketch by John F. Crider A.I.A.)

The Nevada State Journal (founded on November 23, 1870) and the Reno Evening Gazette (founded on March 28, 1876) were combined on October 7, 1983 to create the Reno-Gazette Journal (RGJ). The collection contains negatives of photographs taken by Reno Gazette-Journal reporters from 1959-2003 for use in news stories.
