Collection Description
In 2016, a cutting from the original Gernikako Arbola (Tree of Gernika), located in Gernika-Lumo and one of the best-known symbols of the Basque Country, was planted on the University of Nevada, Reno campus by the university's Arboretum Board. While this cutting did not survive, in 2019, a second cutting from the original tree was planted and successfully cultivated in the same location as the first. This collection represents the first planting; see collection Second Tree of Gernika (BSQPD2019-001) for documentation of the second planting.
