Item Description
This photograph shows a Coffin and Keys raft event on Manzanita Lake with a dog in the foreground and Hatch Hall (right) and Morrill Hall (left) in the background. Coffin and Keys is a secret organization that officially formed in 1924 “with the idea of promoting the common good” for the University, faculty, and students. Early group members mostly printed jokes and pamphlets. The group became more vocal about campus politics, policies, and presidencies during the 1960's. This organization has at times been viewed as controversial and still exists on campus today.
