[Appeared on RGJ page 15 with caption:] SECLUDED INFORMAL ROSE GARDEN of Mrs. Clyde Mast, 577 St. Lawrence, was adjudged Tuesday as the best amateur rose garden entry of the third annual Rose Show. Mrs. Mast is shown receiving congratulations from the donor of the rose garden trophy, Len Harris. The award was established this year by Mr. and Mrs. Harris for the entrant with the best garden exhibiting 20 or more different varieties of roses. The terraced formal garden of Mr. and Mrs. A.P. Johnson at 301 Mark Twain Ave. received honorable mention. Displays for the rose show Saturday at First National Bank, Second and Virginia streets, will be registered by the exhibitors between 8:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. and the show will be open to the public at 1 p.m.

The Nevada State Journal (founded on November 23, 1870) and the Reno Evening Gazette (founded on March 28, 1876) were combined on October 7, 1983 to create the Reno-Gazette Journal (RGJ). The collection contains negatives of photographs taken by Reno Gazette-Journal reporters from 1959-2003 for use in news stories.
