Agriculture Building (Frandsen Humanities) and Manzanita Lake, 1920

Later known as Frandsen Humanities, the Agriculture Building can be seen with Manzanita Lake in the foreground and the edge of the historic University Library (today known as the Jones Center) seen at the far right. The Agriculture Building was built in 1918, named after beloved biology professor and 1895 graduate Peter “Bugs” Frandsen. The building housed classrooms and laboratories for the College of Agriculture, as well as for Home Economics, until they both moved into other buildings in the late 1950’s. The building then became home to the departments of Philosophy and Foreign Language until it underwent a two-year remodel and reopened in 2000 to house the Department of English.
