Item Description
Members of the University of Nevada Class of 1914 sit between the Cane Rush goal posts. The caption on the image reads, "The Annual Reception to the Freshman, 1914 Before." Cane Rush was an event where sophomores and freshmen were pitted in a game of strength and agility wherein a cane had to pass through the opponent team and reach the end of the Quad. Cane Rush was part of early university hazing often harshly done from upperclassmen to lower-classmen (photographic print, 3.25 x 5.5 inches).
