Item Description
Derailment of Eureka Nevada Railway tender and other cars at trestle about a mile south of the Summit siding. Pictured is the Eureka Nevada Railway Locomotive No. 11. The mishap occurred on Friday the 13th in April 1923. The train crew was in the process of doubling their heavy consist of speiss slag over the Garden Pass Summit when the trestle gave way under all that weight.
