Item Description
A Nevada skier poses under a Nevada banner during the 1959 Winter Carnival ski races. The Winter Carnival started on campus in 1939 and was an annual event where students participated in all kinds of winter activities, including skiing in the nearby Sierras, ice skating on Manzanita Lake, and electing Winter Carnival royalty. The event still happens on campus today, although in a much more tame version of free hot chocolate and carnival games.
