[Appeared on RGJ page 12 with caption:] SPLENDOR OF THE AGES --- Checquers court, the early home of the present Mrs. Vinton A. Muller of Reno, has been called 'a jeweled casket...full of alluring treasures.' In the photograph, above, a few of the estate's scores of court portraits are visible. Other mementos of bygone ages include correspondence from Richard Cromwell, Lord Nelson, and Napoleon Bonaparte. Miniatures and masks of Britain's Great Protector, Oliver Cromwell, also abound. The huge country residence virtually overflows with valuable miscellany from England's past.

The Nevada State Journal (founded on November 23, 1870) and the Reno Evening Gazette (founded on March 28, 1876) were combined on October 7, 1983 to create the Reno-Gazette Journal (RGJ). The collection contains negatives of photographs taken by Reno Gazette-Journal reporters from 1959-2003 for use in news stories.
