[Appeared on RGJ page 8 with caption:] GIRL SCOUT TROOP NO. 13-Newest troop of the Sierra Nevada Council, was formed recently with the investiture of eight new scouts, and the transfer of two girls from other troops, held at the home of the leader, Mrs. T.F. Gallagher, 1310 Trainer St. After the candlie-light ceremony, the girls served refreshements. Left to right are Claudette Brannon, Kathleen McVey, a transfer; Toni Brannon, Mary McDonald, Colleen Gallagher, Patti McDonald, Helen Know, Pamela Steadman, also a transfer; Linda Carter and Pamela Upson. Mrs. Claude Brannon is co-leader, and committee members are Mrs. Allen Know, Mrs. W.S. Upson and Mrs. Donald Carter.

The Nevada State Journal (founded on November 23, 1870) and the Reno Evening Gazette (founded on March 28, 1876) were combined on October 7, 1983 to create the Reno-Gazette Journal (RGJ). The collection contains negatives of photographs taken by Reno Gazette-Journal reporters from 1959-2003 for use in news stories.
