These materials are selections from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Yucca Mountain Research Collection which acquired by the University of Nevada, Reno during its time as a Local Public Document Room for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission beginning in 1989. This collection includes U.S. Government issued reports and contractor work related to the proposed site, as well as email communications, letters, research articles, books, educational pamphlets, maps, and other materials related to Yucca Mountain nuclear waste repository activities.

Collection Description

The purpose of this public hearing is to solicit comments on the nomination of Yucca Mountain for site characterization as a potential high-level radioactive waste repository, to solicit issues to be included in an Environmental Assessment supporting the Department's formal nomination of that site, and to solicit issues to be addressed in the Site Characterization Plan which would subsequently be issued prior to proceeding with site characterization.
