Item Description
The Cadet Corps is photographed in the distance standing in drill formation in front of the historic Gymnasium. The Morrill Act of 1890 stipulated that theoretical and practical military instruction be a part of the regular coursework of every male student. The government invested great amounts of money in higher education institutions. In return, this agreement allowed for a citizen army to be ready in time of need. Arms and accoutrements were provided by the War Department.
