Over his four seasons at Nevada, Jones scored 1,877 points, collected 1,016 rebounds, and blocked 142 shots. He averaged over 18 points and 11 rebounds per game. Jones was an All-WCAC second team selection in 1976, a first team selection in 1977, and a second team selection in 1978. Jones also earned first team all-district honors in 1978. Jones was selected by the Milwaukee Buck in the 2nd round of the 1979 NBA Draft. Jones was inducted into the Nevada Athletics Hall of Fame in 1989 and his number was retired.
