Item Description
The mural on the two adjacent back walls of Mountain Music Parlor was painted by a group of youth who are part of the Children's Cabinet's "Spray Positive" program. This program was instigated by the Reno Police Department, in collaboration with the Children's Cabinet, as a way to beautify blighted properties in Midtown and Downtown Reno. A dream catcher with music notes in the web leads to the head of a Native-American figure wearing an elaborate headdress. An American flag emerges from the left side of the headdress and straddles both walls. A portrait of a man in a cowboy hat (most likely bluegrass musician Bill Monroe) painted in front of the flag graces the adjacent wall, and the mural concludes with a rendering of a chick playing a cello with the name "Bill Monroe" painted above it.
