Plight of the Bumble Bee

This mural painted by artist Erik Burke is composed of two main subjects: a Reno landscape at sunset, and an electrocardiograph line running through the entire mural. The beloved mountains of Northern Nevada are depicted below in black as the blue and black clouds begin to take over the setting sun. The spots of white depicted throughout the black mountains depict life in the city. Life in Reno is further symbolized by the large and vibrant electrocardiograph line (or heartbeat line) painted across the landscape in green and white.
