Item Description
This mural by Erik Burke was painted on an aluminum garage door using a color palette consisting of white, gray and black, and various shades of blue, green, red and brown. The garage door has been painted lead gray and each square of the individual raised panels are painted in one of seven alternating colors: cinnamon brown, hickory brown, sea-foam green, teal blue, stone blue, cerulean blue, and navy blue. The petals of the poppy in the foreground were created using candy, crimson, cherry, and mahogany red. The curvy stem is a painted using sapphire, cerulean and aegean blue, shaded with gray and highlighted with yellow and light green. A partially crushed coca-cola can appears in the center of the mural, painted over a portion of the stem. The poppy appears to emerge from under a gray roller-style garage door, with the outline of an alien head painted on it in red. The mural is 20 x 8 ft. The garage structure upon which this mural was painted was torn down in Spring of 2018.
