Item Description
Women students of the Normal School are photographed here in a drawing class next to the Orr Ditch with Morrill Hall, the Mechanical Arts Building, and the President's House seen in the background (photograph taken from the Book of Views). The Normal School was established in 1887 as a college for pedagogy, training elementary school teachers who would go on to teach in the newly forming urban centers and rural ranching and mining parts of Nevada.
