Item Description
Heraldry/herldica/escudo on a house. The top shield/arma appears to be castles (castillas) and crosses bottony (cruces treboladas) charges arranged quarterly (cuartelado)/party per cross. The bottom left shield appears to be castles (castillas) and vair (veros) arranged quarterly (cuartelado)/party per cross. The bottom right shield appears to be five fleur-de-lis (flor-de-lis) on a field. Without knowing specificially what colors the charges and fields are meant to be, it is difficult to conclusively determine which families they represent. Similar patterns have been associated with the Martinez, Fernandez, and Baranuebo families. Arms first appeared in Spain at the beginning of the 11th century and are unique in that they can be inheireited maternally and paternally.
