Item Description
Michael Lucido's electric-box mural features two sunglass-wearing raccoons on the back. A raccoon holding a video camera in its right hand while flashing a "sign of the horns" gesture (the index finger and the little finger are upright and the thumb is clasped against the two middle fingers) on his left hand sits atop the shoulders of the other raccoon who is performing a kick flip on a sky-blue skateboard with pink wheels, the words "Rad Thief" (a reference to the name of Lucido's clothing company: Rad Thief) appear on the bottom of the board ("Rad Thief" also appears on the video camera). The raccoons are painted against a teal, yellow, and pink background. Three smaller boxes (one blue, one yellow, one pink) sit to the left of the main box. The panel of the box to the right is painted black with the words "Reno Is Rad." All three words have a different appearance: "Reno" is all caps, painted in aqua-blue block letters with magenta shadows; "Is" appears in black caps against a bright yellow banner-like background; "Rad" is painted in white cursive letters, with a white underline. White eight-pointed stars speckle the panel. The skateboarding theme of this box possibly relates to its location at City Park Plaza, used in the past as an unofficial skate park. The video camera might be symbolic Lucido's involvement with multi-media production.
