Item Description
The scholastic theme of this mural by artist Joe C. Rock relates to its location on a wall of the building that used to house the Rainshadow Community Charter High School. The boy, who wears a tan hat and matching shirt with the the Rolling Stones iconic lips and tongue logo on it, carries graded assignments and a copy of Tolstoy's War and Peace in his left arm as he and his dog (with a crown floating above its head: a common object in Rock's murals) run through the tall trees. Books, one open with a house emerging from its pages, float around the boy, perhaps they have flown out of his blue backpack. A red bird perches on a tree branch behind the boy and three lady bugs fly around the bottom of the mural, two behind the dog and one by the boy's right foot.
