[Appeared on RGJ page 20 with caption:] CRIME DIDN'T PAY --- Within two hours after they staged a $1000 armed robbery of a Reno service station this week, Robert E. Dwinells, left, and Robert G. McCarroll, center, were apprehended in their getaway car at Donner Summit. California Highway Patrol officers trapped the pair by sandwiching their automobile between two patrol cruisers. Shown with the bandits is one of their captors, CHP Officer Martin A. Sturcke. Dwinells and McCarroll were arraigned in justice court here Thursday and waived a preliminary hearing set for Oct. 15. Bail was set at $4000 each.

The Nevada State Journal (founded on November 23, 1870) and the Reno Evening Gazette (founded on March 28, 1876) were combined on October 7, 1983 to create the Reno-Gazette Journal (RGJ). The collection contains negatives of photographs taken by Reno Gazette-Journal reporters from 1959-2003 for use in news stories.
