Item Description
Nightingale Hall is photographed empty during stage setup. It is located inside the Church Fine Arts Building. The Church Fine Arts Building was originally constructed in 1962 to house the Schools of Music, Fine Arts, and Speech Communication and Theater, in addition to the Nevada Repertory Company, Nightingale Concert Hall, and the Sheppard Fine Arts Gallery. The building was named after Classics and Language Professor James Edward Church who taught at the university from 1892-1959 and was best known for developing techniques on snow surveying, assessing avalanches, and advocating for a community arts’ space. The building was expanded in 1986 and 2014 to become the Church Fine Arts Complex.
