Item Description
As artist Joe C. Rock explains on his website: "This mural was created as an ode to the history of the Midtown area in Reno, NV. The word 'Midtown' covers the wall in painted exposed brick, transitioning from new, to worn down, to built back up with metal and brackets, just as the area has [b]een throughout the years. Vintage ads and photographs of [influential] people and businesses, [as well as] imagery that helped build up the area are recreated in spray paint and house paint [and] collaged about in a makeshift timeline of the area [that leads] up to a motel sign from the street, re-lettered to say 'look to the future.' A child adorned in an American-flag dress with Lady Liberty's crown, torch, and tablets looks blindly into the future."
