Item Description
The Mining Hall is photographed here after its extension was added (sepia photograph). The Mining Hall was built in 1889 as the second permanent structure on campus. Originally known as the Nevada Agricultural Experiment Station, the top part of the building was destroyed in a fire in 1899. The building was reconstructed after the fire and became the Mining Hall from 1900-1909. It then became the Physics Building until it was demolished in 1929 to make space for construction of the new Mackay Science Building.
