Oval bowl: flexible, close and open twining. On bottom: simple close twining (z-twist wefts); on wall: simple twinging (z- twist wefts) from 10 to 1 cm from rim with exception of three strand twining (z- twist wefts) at 9 to 8 cm from rim and at 1 to .5 cm from rim; open twining is employed on 5.5 cm of wall in which every other warp element is enclosed in simple twining; a foot around base is created at 10.5 cm from rim by warp elements folded at a 90-degree angle and inserted into adjacent warp rows. Rim: warps ends are folded at a 180-degree angle and reinserted into adjacent warp rows. Design: two brown bands, one around bottom of wall, the other below rim. Condition: dirty, insect webbing in one place on rim, adhesive remains of tag on bottom, black strands of hair are stuck between several stitches.

This digital collection represents baskets from the University of Nevada, Reno Department of Anthropology's Huber collection. Lulu K. Huber collected nearly 600 baskets made by Native American weavers from roughly 1840 to 1930, including pieces by weavers from Washoe, Paiute, Shoshone, Bannock and Ute peoples in the Great Basin and by weavers from more than 25 Native American peoples elsewhere in the West.
