Hat: close twining, three strand twining (s-twist wefts) from start to 0.8 cm, simple twining (s-twist wefts) from 0.8 cm to rim with exception of two single rows of three strand twining (s-twist wefts) at 4.5 cm from start and at 2 cm from rim. Rim: simple twined end selvage with warp ends truncated after final weft course. Yellow and brown center extending 1 cm from start, four black triangles encircle start, band of brown concentric lines and black vertical lines 4.5 cm from start, on wall are repeating patterns of a black triangle outlined by five smaller triangles, band of brown concentric line and black vertical lines 2 cm from rim, on remaining 2 cm of wall are four repeating patterns of a black rhomb positioned between two black triangles. Collection Description
This digital collection represents baskets from the University of Nevada, Reno Department of Anthropology's Huber collection. Lulu K. Huber collected nearly 600 baskets made by Native American weavers from roughly 1840 to 1930, including pieces by weavers from Washoe, Paiute, Shoshone, Bannock and Ute peoples in the Great Basin and by weavers from more than 25 Native American peoples elsewhere in the West.
